WikiLeaks

A non-profit website that publishes leaks of sensitive information, especially government leaks. Many of the site’s sources are anonymous, owing to the highly sensitive nature of the information. Their motto is “We open governments.” The site was founded in Iceland by Julian Assange.

WikiLeaks has published several notable caches of confidential data, including the Vault 7 CIA leaks, the Hillary Clinton/DNC email leaks, and the Edward Snowden leaks. The organization has been criticized for some of its editorial policies; critics often say that WikiLeaks has an anti-liberal or anti-United States agenda. Defenders of the organization point to its stated goal: to responsibly publish all secretive information in an effort to enforce government transparency.
